Mr. Sikder Bodiruzzaman is currently working as the Ambassador of the Embassy of Bangladesh in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. As a career diplomat, Bodiruzzaman has been serving in different capacities at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka and Bangladesh Missions abroad.


Prior to current assignment as Ambassador, he had been the Director General in the East Europe & CIS Wing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh from 2019 to July 2023. He also served as the Consul General of the Consulate General of Bangladesh to Dubai from 2016 to 2018. Bodiruzzaman also served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka, in different capacities. He served as Director General (Africa Wing) and Director General (External Publicity Wing) from 2014 to 2016. He also served as Director in the South Asia Wing, International Organizations (IO) and Consular & Welfare Wing. He served as Assistant Secretary in the Protocol (Visit), SAARC and South East Asia wing too.


He was Deputy Chief of Mission at Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh, Manila, Philippines, from 2008 to 2013. He also served as Vice Consul in Bangladesh Consulate General in Hong Kong from 2001 to 2004 and Second Secretary and First Secretary in Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi from 2004 to 2006.


Bodiruzzaman joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bangladesh, as an Assistant Secretary in 1998. He belongs to the Bangladesh Civil Service (Foreign Affairs 17th Batch).


Ambassador Bodiruzzaman holds a Master’s Degree in English Language and Literature. He also received Bachelor’s degree from the same discipline from Rajshahi University in Bangladesh. Prior to joining Ministry as a Diplomat in 1998, Mr. Zaman had been serving as a Lecturer in English Language and Literature in New Model University College, Dhaka, Bangladesh.


Ambassador Bodiruzzaman was born in Khulna. He is married and blessed with two children.
